Museum Definition -- ICOFOM Consultation with the UMAC Community

Dear UMAC members,

As you know, in Kyoto last September the adoption of the new ICOM Museum Definition was postponed until the next ICOM General Assembly in 2020. One of the reasons indicated was the lack of internal debate within ICOM.

Therefore, ICOFOM, the International Committee of ICOM for Museology, is conducting a wide consultation with National and International Committees  -- including UMAC of course -- about the museum definition.

UMAC strongly encourages its members to give their views. You can find ICOFOM's survey, in English, French and Spanish, here:

Your views will be forwarded to ICOFOM, which will report to the 2020 General Assembly. Moreover, your views will also provide us an  indication of how UMAC should vote on this matter.
